The Law of the Workplace

 

There is a law of the workplace so fundamental that it trumps all company policies, and, unless it is affirmatively acknowledged by the company policies, brings into question the legitimacy of such policies.

 

That law is: treat everyone else with respect.

 

Sure, there are hierarchies in most workplaces, chains of command, direction.

 

But before all else, no one may be required to enter a workplace where he or she is not respected.
